Description
Welcome to the Long Night of the Stars 2026 at Thüringer Landessternwarte!
How do astronomers use and work with a telescope? What kind of signals does the world's largest radio telescope receive? And how are these signals converted into research data? Why is it so important to observe the Sun and how is it done?
During our Long Night of the Stars, we will show how astronomers work - hands on. Join us for tours of our 2 meter Alfred-Jensch-Telescope. Listen to talks about fascinating astronomical topics. Come to our star gazing party behind the dome and learn more about celestial objects (weather permitting).
Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026
Time: 5 pm to midnight
Please note: Access to the telescope is not barrier-free. Please dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes.
