First light of the Andor camera in Schmidt focus

POSTER thanks to the hard work of our workshops in the last weeks the new ANDOR camera, originally bought by Dr. Roman Follert for our new guiding system, is now operational in the Schmidt focus. After some tests for focusing and the correct setting of the readout electronics we had First Light last night. The attached image is a cut-out of that first light image showing outer planet Neptun and its moon Triton. The later is well visible even at a frame rate of 15 per sec. Triton is the target of this whole enterprise - Triton will occult a star on Okt 5./6., which will allow us to measure its atmosphere. With SOFIA and hopefully also here at TLS ...
